I Have a Little Money to Invest. Where Do I Begin?
Q. Well, I do not have thousands to invest, only what I am making over the summer, a couple of hundred dollars. I go to college, so I try and save what I can. What can I do with this money that can start me off and give me some experience with the stock market? I do not want it in the bank.
A. Surf on over to the NAIC Web Site, and shell out $39 for an individual membership, read the Investors Manual they'll send you, and then study and pick out a couple of stocks from their Low Cost Investment Plan. The Low Cost Plan allows you to buy one share in any of 145 companies for the share price plus a one time fee of $7; then you buy additional shares directly from the company's Dividend Reinvestment Plan.
